A French internet billionaire has founded a post-secondary school that admits students on the basis of how they think and not on how well they played the academic game in high school.

I think this approach could transform U.S. schools. What do you think?

What a practical and intriguing idea.

Connie,
Yes, it's an exciting idea that deserves to be emulated. The Paris school is for older students (18-30), but I think the approach could be adapted to secondary school. Not all students would flourish in such an environment, but many would--and I think the ones who would benefit most are many of the ones who presently fall through the cracks.

I'd like to see changes in the way children K-6 are taught. Those are the foundation years, the time when all children can receive the same exposure to a standard form of the language and some of the beautiful aspects of their culture. Then, from 7-12, they ought to have the option of different types of schooling that suit different interests and learning styles.
