Wonderful article, Asha. I cannot imagine making tea without a real tea kettle to boil the water in. Like you say, that is part of the tradition -- and the sound of the whistle is always anxiously awaited.

I rarely put milk in my tea. I like a strong black tea, like English Breakfast, and in the evenings I like a mellow herb tea with chamomile and licorice.

Thanks for the comments Phyllis. I have to say I do like milk in my tea. I sometimes use rooibos and usually use soya milk. If I am going for herb teas it is normally chamomile or mint - I also enjoy making mint tea by steeping mint leaves in hot water.
