Hi, angela.
I understand there is a group who feel a visually impaired/blind individual is unable to safely teach another visually impaired/blind person. Some members of the group feel it is too much of a risk for the "blind to lead the blind" to state a discriminating quote to the visually impaired/blind.
I can understand their caution but they are speaking from the side which does not really understand what a visually impaired/blind person trained to teach others must go through to become certified to teach. The requirements are no less than any other certification in any other field.
I believe someone in chicago had an accident while under the care of a visually impaired/blind instructor and the reaction is to punish all visually impaired/blind teachers.
Hopefully, the group will become more knowledgable about the issue before pushing the implementation of a new bill or law.
Thanks for your interest and response.
