Clearly this is a conversation for women so if you're a dude stay out of this plz : )

For years I heard that inverting while menstruating was bad and it was mostly dude instructors saying this. Not sure why they always feel the need to make such a big deal about this in class too.

I finally read an article by a woman about this topic and she explained that there is no medical reason not to invert and whether you do or don't should depend on your body and your experience with your period.

I kind of think it's funny that men think women are so fragile during their periods. I think a woman on her period could probably kill somebody with her bare hands if provoked enough ; )

I had always held back with inversions during my period until yesterday and guess what, best inversion practice I've had ever! As with any physical pursuit, it's about what's right for your body.

It's just the sloughing of the uterine lining. There is no reason that you cannot do anything that you would do while not on your period.

LOL, seriously! For me the week before is usually worst. I feel exhausted and not as bendy so I avoid inverting to avoid injuries : )

It wasn't that long ago that women weren't allowed to run while having their period - I guess they thought it would shake things loose unnaturally! Very scary the things women were thought to be "unable to do".

I just found a page about the history of the Boston Marathon -

Boston Marathon

Women weren't allowed to run until 1972.

"Gibb [who snuck in in 1966] had been inspired to run by the return of her race entry with a note saying that women were not physically capable of running a marathon."

For me, doing inversions actually helps my period. It lessens the cramps significantly.
