I'd really love to work in the Jewish world in some capacity. It's a transition that I'd like to accomplish over the next 5 years. Does anyone know any good resources for exploring job fields, pay, education, etc. for making this transition?

Thanks for your terrific question! One of the best resources I have found is JewishJobs.com which bills itself as the communal clearinghouse for Jewish jobs. They send out a weekly newsletter on Wednesdays with all of the latest job listings they've received.

Coincidentally, The Forward is running a series of articles on jobs in the Jewish world as well.

Also, .jewishcareers.com is a good resource. You might also try going to your local Jewish federation or community center for info and ask around at shul--you never know who you will run into!

It was helpful. Thanks! I think I what to work in the education field - adult education whether at a JCC or shul. Anyone care to comment about what credentials I'd need? Masters Degree?

A MA in Jewish education may be required but not necessarily. There are many good MA programs, including those at Yeshiva University, JTS, Hebrew Union College, NYU and Hebrew College. Hebrew College actually has a completely online MA in Jewish education program.
