Here's a web page with a neat idea for cheap tank dividers if you're short of space but want more bettas..I have an extra 10 gallon hanging around not doing anything..I just may give this a try!

That's very clever! Plus it prevents any cross contamination.

Well, actually Nann, it wouldn't..because the water would flow right through the plastic canvas. I think the silicon is used just so that the divider stays put.

sorry Nann, EMG's right. I'm using some of that plastic canvas now as a temporary lid for my 2 1/2gl which i just moved in someof my critters. two things i've learned form using this stuff (i also made bubbler cages with it) you needa toothbrush and alot of salt to clean out algae, and it can be almost whatever you wish. man i love this stuff! anyways...
cross contamination, yes. bettas biting eachother, no.

ENJOY!!

Mel & Emg,

Humph! When I read the instructions, it said to use a report cover, and slide the canvas into it. Seems like a report cover is pretty solid and would prevent water from flowing in between. :rolling:

really? i read that as meaning a report cover edge-thingy. just to hold the plastic divider in place. i could be wrong then. hmmmm... if that were the case why bother with the plastic canvas then?
well poop! i think we should all just experiment with our own versions and see what works best IMHO. i wonder if acetate sheets are toxic to fishies? do you guys know? :rolling:

I think what they are referring to is a report 'edging'. A plasic clipy thing..that you slide the edge of your report into..something like that. You would silicon the edging in place on the side of the aquarium and when it dries you slide the plastic canvas in the slots of the edging. I can picture what they are talking about, but I don't know the technical name for that plastic edging stuff.

I imagine if you want a solid divider you could just replace the plastic canvas with thin plastic sheeting or plexiglass.

Hey Nann...how did you get your blinkie thing to work?? (OBVIOUSLY...I haven't yet figured it out ! ....*note*..bottom of post)
