Great article and I couldn't agree more. I would like to add that adopting an animal from a shelter can, in and of itself, bring you a great sense of peace from doing a really good thing so if considering a pet please check out your local shelter as your first source.

I love this article! It is so true that pets can have an incredible impact in so many ways. I also echo Susan that we should all adopt pets out of shelters, to give them loving homes!

We are down to 1 parakeet and 1 cat here and I am thinking we should adopt another shelter kitty. It would keep our cat company, and help a poor shelter kitty (we'd adopt an older one) have a loving home for her remaining years.
