Welcome to BellaOnline, tkyater.

Chamomile tea is a very good choice. So is Valerian.

Eleuthero (Eleutherococcus senticosus, Araliaceae) is a relative of ginseng. The roots and leaves can be used to relieve stress. It is not a stimulant like ginseng. Check with a licensed herbalist for dosages.

Fu Ling (Poria cocos, Polyporaceae) The red fu ling (muk sheng) is best for nervous and restless conditions. Check with a licensed herbalist for dosages.

Welcome Tkyater,

There's a great book that I refer to. It has a wonderful cross reference section too.

Earthways

I've used this many a times, not only in learning about what different types of herbs do, but actually finding the plant or root, ordering it and just growing my own.

Most of what I'm usually looking for is how to relieve stress and anxiety. smile

Kava Kava is also good. If you are having anxiety/panic attacks then try 5-HTP it is a natural serotonin but it does take it a few days to a week to fully kick in but works very well. You can get it at Wal-mart for $10.00 a bottle.

Herbs are good but also the body needs minerals. I have a cousin that is a mortician and she has told me repeatedly that the very thing lacking in many bodies by the time that they reach her is a total deficiency of life sustaining minerals. I have heard that a trace amount of vanadium combined with chromium and biotin is very stimulating and relaxing for the body and good for diabetes, however talk to an herbologist or holistic practitioner about your needs.
