Tonight on PBS's Masterpiece Mystery, the first of three new Hercule Poirot mysteries airs. Check your local PBS listing for time.

One of the three will include Murder on the Orient Express.

As I am now television-less - mine died and I had already decided to drop cable and use Netflix and online viewing options - I won't be able to see these shows as they premier.

If anyone is watching this series, please feel free to leave your impressions on this forum. We would love to hear your opinion of the shows. I'm sure they will be top-notch, as always, and I look forward to seeing them at a later date.

I watched most of Murder On the Orient Express last night and was a bit dissappointed with Poirot losing his temper a few times. He is usually so calm. I missed a lot of the movie due to phone calls and am puzzled the way it ended - with Poirot leaving with the officers (military? police?) and feeling so sad.

I have watched other versions of this movie and do not remember the ending quite like that. I will have to read the book and hopefully will get a chance to see the movie again. I hope PBS will run it again. I want to watch every minute of it next time.

Poirot is my favorite Agatha Christie character and I love David Sutchen (sp?). I was just dissappointed that this time he seemed weaker (physically and mentally) and had less control over his emotions.

While I thought that Murder on the Orient Express (the 2010 version with David Suchet) was good for a movie, I don't think that it belonged with all of the other Poirot shows starring David Suchet. Very DARK... which I didn't expect after watching every David Suchet/Poirot episode.

Still, I think that the movie was good... just not particularly how I envision Agatha Christie would have wanted it to be dramatized. She was, in fact, the Queen of Cozy Mysteries... and there was quite a lot that I never would have expected to see in a production of a Christie novel... and that's after reading the novel.

I had read a couple of reviews that noted there was a differance in the way Suchet played the roll versus his usual past performances. Hmmm, wonder why the change?

Has anyone heard why he would change it up at this late date?
