Peonies are the Indiana state flower, and they do wonderfully well here. Most old farmhouses have rows of peony plants out front that are as old as the houses. There are a dozen or so peonies in my yard that have to have been planted when the house was built in the late 1950's. One single magenta, several white doubles, pale pinks and deep reds too as well as deep pinks like Lisa's. I love their fragrance as well as their extravagant beauty. They are in full bloom now. My DD in North Carolina also loves her peonies; hers were blooming a few weeks ago.
