I have a really odd schedule so I don't wake up until 1 or 2pm, so I'm always eating after dark. Many nutritionists though warn about eating before you head to bed (which for most people is close to after dark).

How do you do with late night snacking? It's just hard for me to tell, because my "when I go to sleep" is so fluid. I could go to bed at 1am one day, and 5am the next day. It all depends on my workload.

I work and operate on a schedule where I don't eat dinner until 8-9pm. I don't go to bed until 1am though. My nutritionist said that as long as I operate on an altered schedule and am not eating within 3 hours of eating, it's ok. I snack for breakfast, have lunch about 1-3 in the afternoon, possibly snack at about 6 and dinner between 8-9.

I'm confused, did you mean eating within 3 hours of going to bed?

Ah ok that makes sense! I was wondering if you meant to always have 3 hour breaks before you ate again!

Nancy -

The overall key is to not be hungry. I realize that seems like it's impossible smile But it's all about smooth, even eating all day. Also, avoid sugar. When you eat sugar, your blood sugar levels spike then drop. If you eat low sugar foods, your blood sugar stays stable meaning you don't get hungry.

So eat a good, low sugar dinner. Then a little while later eat a HEALTHY snack that is not high in sugar. Then keep drinking water and tea. That will keep you full, and happy, and have no cravings for mindless eating.

Also don't train yourself to sit in front of the tv eating things! That is VERY bad for anybody.

A lot of people eat in front of the TV long past they are really hungry. So definitely anyone who eats in front of the TV, change your habits. Make a lovely spot at the table and sit with a book or *anything* to eat there.

The TV should be a food free zone, except maybe small healthy snacks in small containers.
