I loved your article, Jase. It was exactly on target for me right now. All I need now is a style.
I should probably say up front that I am absolutely helpless when it comes to my hair. I'm a woman that never learned to do it and never spent hours as a teen in front of the mirror experimenting. I know this comes as a shock to someone in the hair business, but if baldness was in style for women I'd be thrilled, no more hassle for me.
I found a stylist about a year ago that I love, she did what I asked and gave me a style that was easy for me to do and maintain. The last time I went in for a cut she was gone and they wouldn't tell me where she went. So I took a chance with another one there and I've been unhappy ever since and I won't go back. So I guess I decided to let it grow for now. My DH is happy with that decision,
of course.
My problem with hair professionals is that they speak a language that I don't speak, so we don't communicate well. And, it's been my experience, that since I don't speak their language, I end up getting the style they want me to have, instead of what I thought I asked for. I try to be honest up front and tell them that I'm terrible at doing my hair and I don't like doing it, either, so I need a style that pretty much does itself.
I work in a preschool, in the infant room, so having it long enough to tie back will be a benefit to letting it grow. Right now I have short layers in the back and chin length at the sides. I love the style on other people, it's just a pain to have to do it every day, and I already have to get up at 4 AM or 5 AM every week day. So I would love a wash and wear style, which seems like growing it all out would be the easiest.
I apologize for rambling, somehow the topic of my hair turns my brain to mush!
