He beat Tiger Woods, who had a lead for most of the tournament. YE Yang hasn't even been playing for that long - I think he took it up at age 20 when he was recuperating from injuries from his other sports he enjoyed!

I believe he's the first Asian to win a US championship, yes?

He was so excited. It was something to see. Yang is fully Korean. Tiger is part Asian - isn't his mother from Thailand.

Apparently his mom is half Thai, 1/4 Chinese and 1/4 Dutch

His dad is half African-American, 1/4 Chinese and 1/4 Native American.

So technically by that reckoning Tiger is equally 1/4 Thai and 1/4 Chinese! He's also 1/4 African-American. It's interesting to me that that 1/4 is the one many people focus on.

I imagine most of us are "mixed ancestry" if we look back a bit!

This was amazing to watch, I knew it would happen some time but did not think Yang could pull it out. He had one amazing shot on the last hole by going over trees, sand trap to close to the cup. He used a hybrid club. Now you know golf will soar in the Asian countries as well as those hybrid clubs.

It is great for golf but Tiger is still my favorite and he will come back. He is one amazing player.
