Thanks ladies! I had bought the top a while back and didn't realize that it was only a top. No thread or anything was included. So I changed the colors up as I didn't care for what the instructions required. I think I cross stitched maybe 3 of the little "squares" and thought that I was crazy to start that! After I broke my ankle I got it back out and worked on it a bunch. My husband kept telling me I would never finish it and for quite some time I didn't think I would! I started working on it in the evenings again a while back. It is supposed to be a lap quilt, but I think it is more of a crib size. And I would guess that many hours went into it. Any time we went for a long trip in the car I took it along and worked on it. And I do need to put a label on the back of it. I thought I might cross stitch one for it. I haven't quite figured out what to do with it yet, seems a shame to put it up somewhere in the closet or a drawer and not enjoy it! Oh and Navey...no I don't take orders! You would think I would never get it finished! I had made some crib ones for my first grandson and they were too cute, I don't even think my daughter used them much because she said they were too nice!

Once I was in one of those second-hand, discount, used stuff places and saw THE most wonderful, BEAUTIFUL quilts I had ever seen. I wish I could have bought it but it was $600. Fat chance they sold it though, not there. It was hand-made, very old, hardly used. Actually it looked almost new. It was a Powder Pink, it had scalloped edges and embroidered with what appeared to be silk thread in deeper pinks and white. It was so beautiful I dreamed about it. I LOVE pink. I'm sure some bargain hunter with a fat wallet haggled a little and got it. It wasn't there when I went back about a week later. It was just so simple and elegant. I have never seen a quilt like it before or since.

I did work on a quilt in my teens. It was huge, the top. I never backed it though and ended up just tossing the whole thing since it was kind of lop-sided. I attached most of the squares by hand to each other but when it got rteally big I started using the machine. It was my first and last attempt at quilt-making.

I FINALLY finished my grandaughters quilt top! Now I need to purchase backing and send it to my mom for quilting. Time to start something new!

Oh, yes, I do like this border. I have been surprised by how much I like the black/white in both of these quilts - sets the pastels out.

Do you know yet what fabric will be used for the back - one in the top, or something completely different?

I am thinking hot pink for the back with orange or yellow. I totally forgot that I didn't put a photo of the finished quilt!

I really had picked the black and white prints because one of them is of bones and the other is of paws. I thought it was too cute.

So the right theme and the colors work so well. I would love to see all the prints close-up cause I can't decide if you have cats or dogs, but maybe it's both. wink

I like the quotes put in this message board.. So true. I too do quilting and love it. I"m working on a baby quilt for a friend who will be a grandmother for the first time. The quilt is for her new grandbaby.

Hi, Julie, I would like to welcome you to this forum. You've been around for a few months, so you know there is lots to discuss here.

I'm glad you like the quotes. When you come up with one you like you just add it in the signature of your profile.

I have so much trouble getting my own projects done, I don't think I would offer to do one for someone else. I think your friend is lucky to have you in her life. Congratulations to her on becoming grandma. It is a position in life that can not be beat. It almost makes you glad you had kids. (This is only a joke! wink LOL)

Again, Welcome. GrannyH
