I'm going to the Intergalatic bead and jewelry show Sunday. I've never been to one and I know I will be overwhelmed.

I had a very good time at the bead show. I wasn't there that long as it was overwhelming; but, at least now, when I look at the catalog or photographs, I'll have some idea of what the product is.

There were about 10-12 vendors there and each had as many as three long tables filled with their wares. Some were happy to spend time chatting with me and others were just interested in taking money! One man sold pendants only and they were beautiful.

One vendor sold beads with, not only jewelry making in mind but, beading design for clothing. There was a shawl on display with, what reminded me of my mother's quilting, beading in the ditch.

On Saturday at the Celtic event, there were two people there demonstrating beading. The gentleman said he had been beading since he was about 16, so we're talking at least 50 years. He liked to create bead design for vests and other articles of clothing. He explained that he creates a design on cross stitch fabric and then sews the beads on the fabric. He then stitches the beads and the fabric onto the vest. Later, if the vest wears out, you remove the beads and the cross stitch fabric in one piece and it can be used again on another article of clothing. Being a newbie, I get the picture, but the work is beyond me.

Sounds like you had a great time! It is still overwhelming to me when I go! My sister and I went to one in Tulsa in the spring. It was great!

It is overwhelming. You see millions of beads and it's like you have to make instantaneous design decisions. I'm a newbie, so that is not easy.

I have been at it for a while now and it is still overwhelming! My sister and I go together and we always try to make a list and stick to it but usually you see lots of other things that you just have to have!

My problem is I see the beads on a string and then I get stuck - I think I'll just put it on!

LOL, my sister makes big chunky jewelry and I always think, how did she come up with that idea?
