I read about this journal online - I haven't tried it and don't know much about it - If you like keeping a journal and are interested in doing your writing online, a service you might want to take a look at is Penzu. Unlike a blog which is (usually) publicly available, Penzu is an online journal which is completely private and features: more info on Penzu

I've seen ads in Writer's Digest for a journaling software program that had privacy features as well.

I suppose the benefit of an online journal is that you can access it from work and home systems, but I'd be really afraid of having my private notes online like that. I would rather carry some sort of hand-held thing to keep notes when I was away from home, or a laptop for longer trips. I'm just paranoid

I'm just paranoid I prefer journaling in a paper journal because I like the appeal of the whole process.

There definitely is that too Angela - my evening journal is a quilted one on the bed and I really like curling up in bed at the end of the day, using my squishy pen, maybe lighting a candle or two and "settling in". It is a calming way to ready for sleep. I don't think I'd get that same calming feeling if I had a laptop in bed with me.

Well, I do my journal on the computer (for physical reasons) and my new-2-me netbook is great for bedtime writing! My work laptop is way too big and heavy to be comfortable.
Nearly all computer journaling programs have security settings, such as password protection. Some have more. I keep mine on a flash drive and back it up to a bigger external drive. I work for an internet provider and I don't trust online storage, but that's me.
I would say if one opts for an online journal, be sure to keep a backup!! Backup every day!
