Follow my link to read my article about old laws that are still on the books in the States and around the world. My article has only listed a few of the many, many crazy laws that are still on the law books.

Let's play a game with this and look up any old law that might still be on the books in your state and post them here. If you cannot find any from your state, use another state or pick a country like Great Britain and see what they have.

Here is mine: Did you know that in New York, it is illegal to throw a ball at someone's head for fun.

I sure know one thing, if I had to get permission from my husband to get my hair done or if my husband had to walk in front of the car with a flag..he'd be in an awful lot of trouble!

I'd have pretty hair and he'd be lying flat face down with skids marks on him!!!! Just kidding lol!

I really wonder if someone did park an elephant at a meter and didn't put the coins in?

That one doesn't sound so crazy to me. If a person isn't looking, you could do some serious damage to them with a baseball. Kids wind up in the ER all the time from goofing off like that.

BTW - that law about not eating ice cream on a Sunday led to the invention of the "Sundae". Apparently it was OK to have a shake, so an enterprising shop owner decided to doll up his ice cream with syrup and whip cream and "accidentlly" not mix it up so well. That's why they are called ice cream Sundaes.

OK, this doesn't go for the entire state of Georgia, but it is a city ordinance in Gainesville, GA (not too far from where I live). It is illegal to eat fried chicken with a fork and knife. You must eat it with your hands.

Or in Tennessee:

You can't shoot any game other than whales from a moving automobile. ???

Or, also in Tennessee:

It is illegal to use a lasso to catch a fish. ???

here's one from Nevada:

Hanging someone is legal if they shoot your dog.

In Nevada, lying down on a sidewalk is illegal.

That one is probably still on the books. Shooting someone's dog is serious business!

Yes! It really is. I wonder, though - would that hold up in a court?

I grew up near the Canadian border and they had a game show about crazy laws in Canada. They had 4 panelists who, along with the audience would be shown a small skit.

When the skit was over, they asked the panelists what law was broken. Hardly anyone knew the laws - the game show was just for fun.

One law was something like: It is illegal to come inside a house with your snowshoes still fastened..........or something like that.
