Hi Trish, Your new avatar is very cute. Did you design it yourself? Oh yeah, I loved your new article, BTW.

Hi Helen, Thank you. I want to get some nice face photos taken, but until then I thought I would play around with Adobe Illustrator. I'm a rank beginner, but it's still fun.

We celebrate Lammas with a fire in our little patio fire pit and we do the whole "Regrets, Farewells, Harvests, Preserves". The highlight for us is writing down our regrets on a piece of paper, saying farewell to them (and to other things in our life that need to be passed) and tossing the papers into the fire (since it's a fire holiday) We haven't come up with a good way to do harvests/preserves other than chatting about them!

That sounds like a lovely ritual Heather. As for harvesting and preserving - I grow some of my own vegetables, so I use these in any celebrations involving a harvest theme. I haven't yet started making my own preserves, but I do love to bake with preserves at the appropriate times: jams, dried fruit mix, sugared fruit mince, tinned apples, etc. Maybe you can incorporate some of that into yours?

We're preserving all season--we can and freeze. I guess I could make it a point to pull out some of last year's cherry chutney on some cream cheese and crackers or 10-pepper chutney to make some pork loin as a celebration of what we harvest!
Of course, every day we're harvesting. But maybe we could make it a point to push off a day or two before Lammas and harvest more that day to create an entire meal.
Thanks!
(Note to self: apply thought once in a while! LOL!)
