Today I received yet another order from Amazon. It included the Berlioz Symphonie Fantastique on a CD performance by John Eliot Gardiner and the Orchestre Revolutionnaire et Romantique, and it recreates the original 1830 orchestration on period instruments.

I had an old tape with the Symphonie Fantastique which got listened to endlessly, and I think this is another keeper! The orchestra does sound very different and in the the Marche au Supplice there's the incredible growl of the trombone to listen out for. Anyone else listened to a new CD recently and particularly enjoyed it?
