Did you know that after WWII the sales of canned pork, SPAM, shot up like crazy? GI's complained they hated it, but they brought it home with them and people found they really liked it. More than five billion cans have bee sold around the world since the product was invented in 1937.
I do not buy it very often, but once a year or so, I will open a can, scrape off the gelatin, cube it, fry it up crispy and add it to scrambled eggs, cheese and green onions. It tastes pretty good!
SPAM is not as gross as you would believe. Although it is "left over pig parts", there are no lips, eyes or other nasties in it - just pork shoulder, ham, salt, sugar, and sodium nitrate. Now what is so bad about that?
