I believe that most avid TV watchers have at least one guilty pleasure. You know, that show that you don't want to admit that you watch for fear of someone questioning the level of your intelligence smile . For some, it may be a show with a plot so predictable that the changes can't even be called twists. For others, it may be a car-wreck of a show that appeals to your rubbernecking instincts.

What's my guilty pleasure? Well, I love teen shows. I am way too old to pass for a teen even in dim lighting wink but I still enjoy shows aimed at the younger set. One of my favorites for years was the Canadian series Degrassi. I watched it in the 80s and then when they revived it for 21st century teens. Even when teen shows have serious plot lines like pregnancy, there is still more of a sense of hope than I find in most adult programming.

Another show that started as a guilty pleasure for me was Ghost Whisperer. I had zero interest in that show when it premiered, but I made the mistake of stopping on CBS while it was on. Jennifer Love Hewitt has a quality that makes me focus on her whenever she is on screen. Now my husband and I are both hooked on the show!

What's your guilty TV pleasure and why?

I also love teen shows....I was a big fan of Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Veronica Mars, The OC, One Tree Hill....but my *best* guilty pleasure TV show is Rock of Love with Bret Michaels on VH1. It's the most base form of entertainment - I love it. It's amazing the lengths these women will go to in an attempt to hook up with an aging B-list celebrity.....or for their 15 minutes of fame.

I also like the Real World / Road Rules Gauntlets on MTV....

That definitely falls under guilty pleasure! In fact, all of the VH1 Celeb-reality lineup could be considered deliciously trashy. My husband and I tune in to every incarnation of Celebrity Fit Club even though I'm convinced that the celebrities were hired to cause trouble. I mean, they are actors smile Even if I saw in black and white that all the blow-ups were staged, I would probably still watch it, though.

General Hospital. LOL. I don't really like soap operas but I guess it gives me some feeling of my teenage days and brings me closer to home in some nostalgic way. Probably when Luke kicks the bucket it won't be the same. LOL

I have to admit, as I hang my head in shame, that the VH1 "reality" show line-up has me hooked (with the exception of Flavor of Love 3 - enough!)

I don't go out of my way to watch the shows but they are great for a Saturday afternoon mindless indulgence - though I usually walk away mumbling about how many brain cells I lost watching the show! blush

That's how I feel about Lifetime and the Lifetime Movie Network. I have my channel guide set so that those channels don't even pop up in my list. Whenever the MIL is here, though, she manages to find LMN and leaves the TV on that channel all day. I come home, walk near the TV, and get stuck. The next thing I know, three or four hours have passed and my face is streaked with tears from watching two weepers in a row! In my head, I know that the movie is toying with me but I can't help crying anyway cry

My TV guilty pleasure: I watch Survivor. I started with the All-Stars series a few years back. I don't see every episode, and I have skipped entire seasons since then, but I do watch it.

Shhh!!! I don't tell many people that!

I have a thing for those long, sweeping miniseries that were so popular in the 80s and into the 90s. Lace and North and South come to mind and anything with Jane Seymour.:)
