In general, do you think men or women are more creative?

Hmm... Hmm... Wow, I don't know. I think women's creativity had been snuffed for a very long time and they are now freely coming into their own. I'm going to say women. With the thinking that men are more analytical.

That's true, Moe. Men are more analytical, women are intuitive.

I don't know, I think on an individual basis that each man or woman has equal ability to be creative. There have been many creative men over the years who have created stunning works of art, novels etc. There are equally creative women. If anything I would say that in the past women were creative but had little public outlet - their creativity showed itself in quilts and embroidery and other private ways. Only in modern times are we becoming aware of their creativity.

I think it's hard to generalize about something like this... but I would say the genders are about equal on creativity.

I have known some men who are very creative, but, in general, all the men I have ever known are not much in to creativity. My youngest brother, on the other hand, is very creative and artistic, even though he is in the retail business.

I would have to agree with Lisa on this. You used to only hear about men as artists and not women. I believe it is all based on the individual talent as well. You cannot really say that either gender is more creative than the other. That's like saying who is a better office manager, a woman or a man? Who is a better driver? Who is a better parent? It is all based on individual talent and if someone has a biased eye or ear or not.
I found a couple of interesting websites regarding women and their artistry. Check these links out:

Great discussion!
If we expand our definition of creativity to go beyond "artistry" then we can definitely see how creative many men are. Men build and create all kinds of neat projects that are very creative. For instance, I am going to start fostering Jack Russell's through the national rescue organization and my hubbie went to work designing and building a really nice kennel for the dogs. I could never have done that. But he had the skills and the creativeness to create a perfect kennel.
Men and women are creative in different ways. In fact, all individuals are creative in different ways. Together, I think we make great compliments.

I had a painting professor in college who said that men tend to be more creative in a professional sense because women had the ultimate creative ability in being able to create a new person!
Even back then I thought it was very sexist, but since I was relying on his good graces for my grade I let it pass.
I wonder if there is anything to his theory or is it just B.S.?
