BellaOnline Forums News and Politics Crime Would You Murder Someone?

One of the other threads got me thinking. What if there was someone in your life who was really harmful - let's say you had an abusive spouse who was beating up on you and your children, and who threatened to track you down and kill you if you ever left. So leaving would be very challenging.

If you somehow were presented with a way to kill the person without any chance of being found out, would you take it? Or would you be against murder and struggle to find another solution?

I know it's hard to imagine any "perfect" scenario but let's say it's a situation where it would be super super hard for blame to go to you - like you're on a cruise ship, your partner has been seen super drunk and climbing on railings already several times by witnesses, and now you are somewhere completely isolated and alone and he's doing it again and just needs the tiniest of pushes ...

I will admit, it would be a thought that would definitely be on my mind...but would I really do it....?

Hopefully if he were beating up on me and the kids, I would leave before it ever got to that. There are programs out there that help people in those situations.

I was trying to figure out if there was a justified premeditated murder situation. I am all for killing someone if they are actively coming at me. If someone breaks into my house waving a gun and saying he's going to kill me, then I'm going to try to take him down first.

But what if it is not that immediate? What if it is a potential threat? I.e. is there a slippery slope where those two men who were just put away for life *might* be justified? It's hard because they were both male and we're generally more sympathetic to female victims, so I was trying to be fair ...

But you're right - I personally would think there's always a way you COULD get away. It should never have to come to that. On one hand I would say I would be tempted - but on the other hand how did I get myself into that situation in the first place? Was there really "no other choice"?
