Hi all,
I was surprised to see A New Earth by Eckhart Tolle as Oprah's newest pick for her book club and teaching course at her site. (Surprised only because it's the only Oprah recommendation I think I've actually read!  )

I loved this book and this is the only Oprah selection I've read too-lol.
It will be interesting to hear the discussion. Doesn't she usually have the author on her show? I'd like to know if you ever hear of a date that will happen as I don't watch her show mostly.

Hi Joan!
Oprah is going to "co-teach" a class with Eckhart Tolle on her site, taking the book chapter by chapter. Participation is free and starts in March. I don't know if Tolle will be on the actual show or not!

This book sounds very interesting. I've heard Oprah talk about how important it is to find your purpose in life many times on her show. I think it's wonderful that she is co-teaching this class.
Those of you that have read the book, was it easy to understand? Did you get a lot out of it?

Chloe, it's a book that you really have to take your time with and absorb, especially if this kind of book/teaching is new to you. In my opinion, it's more accessible than The Power of Now, a book that Tolle was (up to this point) more famous for. And yes, I got a lot out of it...and STILL get a lot out of it (as I mention in my review).

I read the Power of Now also and I think you're right, Janet, this one was easier to grasp. I thought it was really easy to understand and I got a lot out of both books.

Janet, thank you. I read your article and already I can see that I will have to take my time with this book. I'm sure that the Oprah class will explain a lot more too. Yes, this type of teaching is new to me but I want to learn more. I sometimes find myself wondering "What is my purpose?"

Janet thanks so much for the info about the class on Oprah's site! I'll look into that.
I listened to both of these books on audio and thought it would be good to get them in oldfashioned paper so I could underline, etc.
