Hi everyone, I just did a major cosmetics overhaul and got rid of most of my stuff (it was getting old and I was worried about bacteria) to switch to MAC cosmetics... My roommate and my mom are just some of the people that I know look great with it on. It was a bit on the expensive side for me but so far I'm happy with it. Anyone else?

I use some MAC cosmetics and really like them. I have recently placed an order with the MAC website, which is www.maccosmetics.com, and am anxious to get the order. There are no stores that sell MAC in my area and I was delighted to find they were online. Before, I had to wait until I went on vacation to buy MAC cosmetics at large department stores. Hope you like them as well as I do!

There are some reviews on MAC here. MAC cosmetics reviews

Personally, I love the lipsticks. That hint of vanilla flavor is really lovely.

I like MAC, love their lip gloss and eye shadows.

The good thing about it is that its great quality. so even if you are a paying a little more, you know its better quality and won't slide off your face.

i agree. i actually think that for the quality, MAC products are a really good value. i know i'm kind of addicted ... but i really do feel that they have very high quality products. anyways, one thing to keep in mind is that if you have fairer skin, you can still find mac products that look more natural and aren't as bright as some of their other shades. alot of people feel like mac is only for really dramatic looks. i don't like to look like i'm wearing alot of makeup, but i really like mac products. I've found lots of fun shades that go with my skintone, but aren't over the top.

Hey macgirl,
I've had trouble finding subtle eye shadow colors with MAC for my fair skin.

Haven't had difficulty though with the brands sold at Sephora. Something about how strongly pigmented the mac products are- the shades I wear in other products look quite similiar.

I believe I used too bad effect the Hot Chocolate and Frost eyeshadow colors.

Do you have fair skin, if so what colors do you use?

Thinking about trying MAC again for lip products since the Smashbox Limitless lip cream I adore got discontinued (that is the only product that doesn't fade or wipe off instantly on me).

I love MAC for certain things. What's odd is that I don't like them for the dramatic look you often see in their advertising...and I don't like them for everything. But for certain basic, staple items, I can't imagine what I'd do without MAC.

Some subtle good shadows...Vapour (this is white with a little bit of pink in it) and Shroom (champagne-y tan). If you line with shadow, there are some good shadows for that...Sable, Mulch and Sketch (all basically deep brown shimmers...Sable is reddish, Mulch has gold, Sketch is more burgundy).

For a crease, Trax isn't bad. It's medium purple with gold shimmer and a burgundy tinge.

Some other popular subtler shades that I've never tried...Yogurt (matte light pink), Haux (matte brown with a rosy tone), Mylar (off white matte), Amber Lights (warm yellow gold)...

But again with the basics...MAC has a few of my holy grail makeup products. Blot pressed powder, Powerpoint eyepencils (especially Permaplum), Lustre formula lipsticks (these are sheer to quite sheer and moisturizing), Blushbaby blush (natural rose brown matte)...

And that is just the beginning. There are quite a few MAC items I never got around to trying, that show up on others' holy grail lists (MAC paints, fluidlines, certain eye kohls, etc.).

Hi girls- I have several friends who use Mac. They really like the coverage and color choices. However, one who is a "woman of color" says that their base doesn't last as long as Fashion Fair, She went back to that.

If you are in to color they do have stronger pigaments which may be more bold at times, however, usually will have more staying power.
Good luck!

I love MAC!! My friend got me started with the lip glass, I have been addicted ever since. What I also love about them is if you bring in I believe 5 empty MAC containers they give you a free lipstick. Gotta love the free stuff!
