Does anyone participate in a tournament bowling club? Our club has been in continuous existence since 1991 and I have been a member since 2002, when I moved back to Phoenix from Hawaii. There is usually a $1,00 - $1,500 Singles Tournament every weekend in the Phoenix Metro area and once a month in cities and towns around the state. Next weekend, for example, we will have tournaments running in Tuscon (1st Anniversary), Kingman, and Phoenix. I have won twice and cashed in about 85% of the one's I have entered. We have a Scratch Tournament about once every 6 weeks in which pros are allowed to enter. I enjoy competitive tournament bowling but more than anything, traveling around bowling in the different bowling centers.
My club average of 198 is the one I am most proud of because it is over a 4 year period, over 400 games, more than 20 bowling alleys, and many, many, different oil patterns which includes Sport and PBA oil patterns.
I am leaving later this morning for Camp Verde, AZ, located about 65 miles north of Phoenix. Our amateur tournament bowling club is holding a $2,500 1st Place Guaranteed Singles Championship at the Cliff Castle Casino. We will be on the Yavapai Apache reservation. This is our third largest tournament of the year behind the $3,000 one in Laughlin and the $10,000 Arizona Dream Tournament during the Labor Day Weekend.
Does anyone else belong to a tournament club? How about sharing your experiences with us?
