Hi..I just joined after reading all the great posts. I have a wonderful 6 month old Maroon Bellied Conure. After getting thru that initial biting stage he is the cuddliest bird I have ever owned (spoiled too). He is starting now to say a few words, loves playing peek-a boo and even loves his shower in the bathtub. I am fortunate enough to be able to take Gizmo to work with me so he gets well socialized. Yep..he's my buddy!!!

Gizmo sounds like a wonderful bird, Wendy. I'm glad you decided to join our group here & I hope we'll get to hear lots of Gizmo stories.

Thank you for the welcome and yeah... he is wonderful, but then they all are. I had to buy a cage for home and a cage for work too..so maybe someday when I can afford a camera I can take some pics of him...LOL

WELCOME Wendy! Gizmo sounds like a very lucky bird to be able to go to work with his "mommy"! Is it an office-type job and if so can you let him sit on your shoulder while working?

I have a 28 yr old Panama Amazon named Sammy and he is the love of my life! Although at the moment he is going through "Amazon mating season" and driving me nuts...he's my baby and we'll survive! Well, hope to be hearing from you! TC!

I am a caregiver and work with teens Lydia. My shifts are 48 hours on and 48 hours off. Gizmo actually knows when I am getting ready to go and gets all excited. This forum is GREAT!! It's so nice to know I am not crazy the way I feel about him. He is the love of my life too and it is sooo nice sharing a life and a home with him.

Thats great Wendy! Do the teens get a chance to interact with Gizmo? Pets can be such good therapy for people! I know Sammy can tell when I'm upset and will do his best to make me laugh! TC!

HI Wendy,
Welcome to the group.
Great bunch of people here, and very helpful.
Gizmo sounds wonderful, great you are able to take him to work.
We have a 2yr old BF Amazon named Maggie, we take her all over the place. My daughter has the sweeetest cockatiel named Sunflower. We also have a budgie called Ink Spot.
Look forward to hearing about Gizmo.
Take Care.

Thank you for the warm welcome!! Gizmo gets to socialize with the teens I work with but he likes one in particular. It's really great that he is such a social bird. He is talking more and more now and certainly knows how to con me out of his cage. Just has to say "kiss, kiss" and I can't resist...LOL. He's still young yet..only 6 months old..and already has my number. Hmmmmmmm (I wouldn't change a thing)

Aww, Gizmo sounds so smart and sweet! Our Hannah has mastered Hello and is working on a few other words. I can't make them out but she seems to be practising them!
