Do you have certain foods or drinks you go with to help you sleep better?

I'm saying this at 4:30am of course

It is also about what foods you avoid as well as what you eat that will aid/ hinder sleep. Depending on how sensitive you are it can be advisable to avoid all stimulants e.g. caffeine after lunchtime. Alcohol is also a notorious sleep disturber - apart from anything else having to wake up regularly to go to the toilet if one over-indulges:)

On the other hand calcium is a great nutrient for aiding sleep. So almonds, sesame seed, dark green leafy vegetables and mother's favourite a glass of milk before bedtime should have you nodding off contendedly!

I agree about the foods to avoid. I gave up alcohol because even one small glass of wine in the afternoon could keep me awake at night.

Turkey has tryptophen so that would be good for sleep.

I drink a cup of chamomile tea in the evening and take 3 calcium/magnesium/VitaminD capsules each night. I also had restless leg syndrome and after some research found out that iron deficiency can cause that. I started taking an iron pill before bed too and no more problems with that.

If you have problems sleeping, try meditation. I have been meditating for a while now (after several years of sleep problems) and suddenly I was sleeping like a rock at night.

Also, daily exercise works wonders.

These aren't foods, I know, but really the sleep issue won't be helped that much by foods (more which to avoid)

Yup exercise helps and I love camomile tea It's amazing the things that can affect our body's ability to sleep! I know I also need it really dark in the room - if it's light I have trouble sleeping ...

For me light snack before the bed time is a good thing. However, I try to avoid coffee and alcohol. I also avoid napping to have a better night sleep. I found some sleep improvement tips here: http://www.healthassist.net/conditions/insomnia.shtml
