Hi, my husband and I are living in Texas right now, until my youngest daughter graduates from college here. We've been looking at places to live after that. We'd like a couple acres and a small house, nothing fancy. However, we do want a place that is tax friendly to retirees and has the services and entertainment we want. Texas has no income tax but the property taxes (at least in our county) are very high. We've looked in east TX, which is pretty but he towns there are kind of run down.

Does anyone know anything about Oklahoma, Arkansas or Louisiana as places to retire? We don't want to be too far from the kids.

Any other favorite places? We moved here from Oregon which I loved but my husband didn't. It's a real retiree state.
