Are you Checking Under Your Car?

This Urban Legend is one that has been around for awhile. What are you thoughts? Do you think that there is any truth to it?

I love urban legends, there are some horrid ones out there, I find that they are very rarely true, some I wish were though, but not many. I wonder who starts them & why, they were around long before the internet. I always check any e-mails I get with Snopes

Hi Kalliope,

First off welcome to the forum! I look forward to discussing Urban Legends with you.

I believe that a lot of Urban Legends are spawned by something that did actually happen. I am not sure who creates them but they have affected everyone in one way or another. Everyone has heard an Urban Legend whether they realize it or not.

I agree some are horrible and down right frightening but I think that is what makes them so great. <img src="/images/graemlins/laugh.gif" alt="" />

I can remember when this one went around as an actual happening in our town.

No news reports or factual information, of course. I spent a week sending the emailees to snopes and other UL sites - and even /after/ seeing the refute - some still insisted it as truth!

The names change, the song remains the same.

Yup Lis, that is usually the case as the email goes around the story changes. Sometimes Urban Legends will become "dormant" for a while and then they come back with different locations, characters and few other changed details.
