I absolutely have.
In Paris, 2002, I visited Pere Le Chaise cemetary and photographed an angel. It was a very challenging time in my life, and this angel was on the last leg of a four hour hike through the cemetary. I was exhausted, and she was actually wedged between two other crypts that I had to climb between to get to her.
Why I went to all of that fuss still escapes me. She was broken and looked ancient, and I think given my state of mind at the time, the strength and testimony of her still being there at all really appealed to me.
Because it was on a disposable camera, I focused very carefully making certain that I captured her as perfectly as I could. And then, thought no more of it until I had the film developed.
I could not believe what I saw. She had eyes.
I took the film in to an actual shop specializing in photography and cameras to see if some one at Walgreens (where I had it developed) had photoshopped it, or if it was a double exposure. The photographer there examined the negative and advised it was in the picture and not a double exposure, but he couldn't explain it.
He also asked me for a copy, which I obliged.
Since then, I keep her picture with me always, and framed on a table. I don't often talk about it, but it's one of the most awe-inspiring events I've ever had happen, and I have absolutely no explanation for it.
A copy of it can be found here:
