Abortion has been a debatable issue. I am very much affected about it. Being open-minded with what's going on in our society has influenced me a lot...

Does our family ties getting frail? Why does teenagers nowadays having abortion? If you were in a teenagers situation will you opt getting your baby aborted?

I feel abortion is a very painful/hurtful action. I would like to see teenagers more informed on the realities of this and other related pregnancy issues, before it gets personal.

I also think if a teen were pregnant. To have an abortion or to go the adoption route, will leave the teen deeply scarred. That is just the way it is. They have to make peace with it.
I think keeping the baby will obviously change a teen as well, but the little bundle of healing salve may help. But, (big but,) that depends on the coping ability and support, of the new mom. A teen mom needs major support. I've seen some very bad situations, for mother's and child's welfare. And if the mom remains resentful, healing never happens, and the relationship is never "right."

If a teen falls pregnant I think it is up to the individual whether they have an abortion.

If the teenager has a career planned, does not love the boy and knows deep down the baby will be a pest. It is best to have an abortion as the child if not wanted will not have a good life. On the other hand if the teenager has maternal instincts for this child definitely keep it.

The matter of abortion to me is really a 2 way street.

I am a 21 year old woman living in Houston. Texas has got to be the most conservative state ever so I am probably the "runt" of my state but I think abortion should be a decision made by the girl and her family. I can understand both the ProChoice and ProLife points of view I just think that the ProLife point of view restricts what someone else might do in the situation. it takes away options. If someone feels that the family ties are falling apart, take action in their own family. I think a lot of societies problem is that they are too scared to talk to their children about sex and/or birth control. So instead of tackling that issue head on, they are instead, dealing with the abortion issue. It isn't an easy thing ot talk to your parents about either, I have been there, nor is it easy to walk into a store to buy condoms. But if you are responsible enough to have sex (quote/endquote) you should have enough courage to do one of the above. And trust me, talking it out with your mom isn't as hard as it seems.... Just say it. They usually know its coming. <img src="/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" />

Unfortunately, the decision is usually made by the family, not the girl.

I feel that it wrong to have an abortion. If the person was willing to have sex then she would have to realize what it comes along with having sex. And if the woman was rape. I would say carry the baby fullterm and give it for adoption. I think young women who have abortion doesn't get the chance to see what the baby looks or hear the sound of their heart beat. I heard that studies were done where if the woman who was wanting to have abortion got the chance to see and hear their unborn baby, they would change their minds. And others who didn't get to do that would go through with it. Now if it was a life and death. I would do it. I would also pray about it too. IMO

I personally am against abortion, but i would never try to force my views on anybody else. It's up to each individual to do what is in their heart, and make peace with themselves if necessary. So, i guess that i'm pro-choice technically.
I can't understand how so many people become pregnant when they don't plan to. There have never been so many choices of birth control methods. Maybe some young people (and i stress 'maybe') aren't so well-informed, but there's no excuse for any adult to have an unplanned pregnancy in this day and age. My mom's advice? Double up on the birth control, barrier + hormonal/natural, and you'll never have to worry. And my mom came from a time when you just crossed your fingers and hoped for the best!
