Okay. I received "Danse Macabre" in the mail yesterday. I finished it this morning. I couldn't hardly put it down. It's great! Okay, yes. The sex scenes are still over the top, but she's back to Obsidian Butterfly quality. Yeah!

If you've already read the first three chapters on the LKH website, you should probably read them again as there are some minor changes. I'm not going to drop any hints or anything, but she does set up the ending to give you the expectation that there will be another Blake novel after this one, so we'll see LKH for a bit yet.

Thanks for the report of "Danse Macabre". I'm so glad to hear that the quality is back! There have been so many negative reports about the more recent Anita Blake books; I've read them all, and reluctantly agree that they're not as good as the first eight.
I usually only buy books after I've read them first from the public library and know that I'll want to reread them. I've continued to buy the Anita Blake books out of loyalty and to insure the continuity of my collection. But I'm glad to know that my faith is not unfounded.
My loyalty to Laurell K. Hamilton does not preclude my enjoying other authors. Has everyone read "Twilight" yet?
I thought Stephenie Meyer's YA vampire novel was a great read even though I'm the mother of a college age son and daughter. It's a great something to read while waiting for my library to have "Danse Macabre" available.
I'd love to hear some of your recommendations for other good reads.
