Hi Everyone! I'm new here...very glad I found this forum, and I'm looking forward to many return visits!!

Well, I have went and done it. I have finally won some crochet pattern books I had bid on at ebay! One of them is a crochet magazine sent from Russia. It has the neatest dress patterns....but they are all written in Russian, lol! (I should've known this would be the case...guess I was too excited with the patterns to give thought to the language barrier)!

Does anyone have any ideas on where I might find an easy to use web site where my patterns can be translated? Russia uses letters that are more symbol than alphabet!!

Thanks!
MariaRosa

Hi! Isn't that little place called e-bay so darn addictive? <img src="/images/graemlins/tongue.gif" alt="" /> I just got some awesome crochet patterns there, me-self.

As for the russian/english translation, I found a page that might help you a little bit.

http://ntl.narod.ru/rukodelie/dict/guide.html

Hope that helps.

Thank-You so much! I am heading off to the links you've all provided!
After leafing through the pages of the magazine from Russia, I saw something I had missed: in addition to the written instructions, the patterns also seem to be given in a charted form. Sooooooo,
this leads me to Questions 2 and 3!!:
2. Am I correct in assuming that these are international crochet symbols? (Seems that I have seen this in many American crochet books), and
3. Seeing as how I never bothered to learn to read charted patterns, is there a easy-to-follow site that I could learn from??

Thanks again for all of your help!!

I too have just purchased some Russian Crochet magazines.

On the very last page is the stitch guide. It shows the stitches in diagram form and with the symbols used. From that and the charts provided I think I can figure it out.

Thanks to the person for the stitch quide site. It is great.
