My mom taught me that "trick" a few years ago at one of my sleepovers. You hold it over the wrist of the person that you are reading for. Then you ask it which way is for a boy and which is for a girl. (Ex. length of arm is boy and across the wrist is for a girl) You need to be very steady and do this in a place where there isn't any wind. When my mom taught this to me, she used a (short)pencil, a needle, and some thread(not too much though, maybe 6 inches or so). You thread the needle with the string, tie a knot, and push the sharp end of the needle into the eraser to make a pendulum. My mom said that when she had learned it(at a sleepover) the pencil started slowly circling, and then read girl, boy, boy, and then it cirlced for awhile. We now think that the circles represent years. Then it started with girl, boy. She thought that it was starting over again. She learned during her second marriage that the pencil wasn't starting over again! At my sleepover we tried it on each of the girls, however I could never get it to work correctly on myself. When the mom of one of the girls came to pick her up I tried it on her as well. She had a girl and a boy, and I knew that. Unbeknownst to me she had had a miscarriage. When I did it, the pencil told me girl, diagonal, and boy. I was kinda confused so I asked her if she had had twins or something. She said no, and then told me that she had a miscarriage. I thought that was pretty crazy. I have also heard of a similar thing being done between a couple expecting a child. The husband takes off his wedding ring and strings it with a string. He then holds it over his wife's belly. I believe that one way means boy and the other way means girl.
So... find a pendulum, ask it which way is meant for boy/girl, hold it steady(it could take awhile so make sure that you can rest your elbow on something), it will start with slow circles and may continue to increase in speed, it will tell you the sex of the child, more slow circles, it will tell you the sex of the next child, more slow circles, when it decides to stop, it will come to a somewhat eery halt
Well, that's all that I can think of, I had never heard of your version before, trish. I have not found out what it will show for adopted children, stepchildren, or surrogacy if anything. Let me know if you find out. I hope that I helped!
My favorite quote is from Spiderman when Aunt Mae tells him " With great power comes great responsibility. "

This is one of those things I have wanted to learn about and kept it in the back of my head. Now it is right out front and I need to do something about it!

Good detailed instructions June Bug...we could do with some scientific research to see if this really does work...although that would take all the fun out of it!
Let us know how you get on Ana-Maree & come back if you need help.

Wow, this is fascinating. I didn't know what to use, then found this little meditation bracelet I made my self with beads... kind of on the order of a rosary with beads in grens and moons, stars, teardrops leaves. The end charm is a large heart. I just started, so I did what was mentioned above and asked simple yes/no questions to see which way it moved. Very disctinct, no doubt what is yes and what is no. Now how about this one:
<One way to reduce this is to put possible answers on identical squares of paper. Mix them up well face down & dowse over them.>
What do you do to determine which peice of paper it is over?

Well done! Now you have a yes/no response you can dowse over each piece of paper asking which is the correct answer. I tend only to use this method when the question has too much personal investment in it. Try with less 'loaded' questions until you get confident.

Many years ago, friends introduced me to the pendulum "baby" party trick My boss showed me something like this. Take a sharpened pencil stick a straight pin in the eraser and thread some string through the needle and swing over the wrist. I can't remember which way it swung for boy same for girl though. It predicted that I was having a boy before the ultrasound was able to pick up what I was having and he wasn't shy about it either!

Thank you Lauren for the tip about the answers on paper, I will try that. I have worked off and on with a pendulum for about 5 years and found that if the question is of a personal nature, I seem to influence it too much. My girlfriend has always used the needle and string for the sex of the unborn child, it works everytime, she learned this from her Grandmother.

Very good input everyone!!! That was very interesting and helped revive an interest that had been dormant for a bunch of years. Let's all do some test research now and see what we learn. The Pendulum Posse! <img src="/images/graemlins/cool.gif" alt="" />
Be kinder than you need to be. Everyone is dealing with something.

We were lucky enough to meet (some may say by chance but I think my son and I were destined to meet her) a very spiritual woman here. She had a class on using your pendulum and of course my son (who is 10 ) went. She had a sort of test for us to see if we could find which cup the crystals were under and my son was the ONLY one who got it right (little stinker). She just loves my son and he loves her, they have a sort of connection , which is great.
