What do you think of the Pink Triangle? What are your feelings about this symbol and what it means? What does it mean to you?

I have what is probably an ignorant question, so please forgive me. A female acquaintance of mine whom I recently saw wore a pink triangle on her shirt. Quite frankly, it's none of my business what her sexuality is, but I'm curious about the pin. Is there ANY chance, do you think (and I know you can't know for certain if you don't know the person in question!) that she could be wearing it for any other reason than for support for gays and lesbians?

Thats hoe I would interpret it. Either she is part of the "family" or supports us!

I have a shirt I designed and sell that says "It aint easy being pinkk" with a pink triangle under it.

Thanks for the question and welcome to the board!

Hi Jason,
For me I really identify with the pink triangle. It honors who I am, as far as being a bisexual woman. And it also honors my partner who is a Jewish lesbian. I also feel that it reminds all of us not to let history repeat itself. There are folks out there who believe that the holocaust never happened, that it was all propaganda, and the pink triangle is there to remind us that it was the greatest sorrow of the human race. And by the way Jason, love the shirts.

Also I forgot to add that pink is a standing joke in our home. I am very femme and wear alot of pink, and have it all over the house, until she meet me she would not be caught dead with anything pink on her person or in her home. So the shirt has a dual purpose.... LOL..... I wear to get a good laugh out of her about how pink just walked through the front door one day and never left her life and it is not easy being pink.

Thanks.. I love my shirts too! LOL Thats why i opened the store. i would design these shirts and get them printed for myelf.. and then people were like.. hey where'd you get it.. and I'd be like I made it. One thing lead to another and there's the store. Now if I could just get more people interested in the shirts. LOL

I like the thought about the pink triangle. I wear a star of david with a pink and a yellow triangle. I wear it as a public reminder just like ou and ytour partner. I have had many arguments in some of my uni classes about whether the hashua happened or not. UGH! The ignorance of some people.

Red... I love red and pink. My friends teasde me all the time asking where my pink manbag is. I have this bag that is cream with different shades of pink dots on it. LOVE IT! It's a large cavas tote that I use to carry all my school and organization [censored] in. Hey, it works better than a book bag! LOL

Happy 4th all you!

Awesome article Jase. I'm sure that there are many, many people who had no idea of that part of the Holocaust.

I never did!

Heck, i never even knew about the triangle thing period as being used to denote prisoners. Jase, you just taught me more than any of my history teachers in HS!

But, seriously, what a sad "oversight". More people should be taught about this.
