How did you non-Chinese origion guys think about Chinese?
I feel so strange when I first came to Canada.I'm doing fine with the Chinese here. But it's very hard for me to find a Canadian friend who I can talk to as I do to my Chinese friend. There seem to be stereotypes or misunderstandings about Chinese people and the cultures. So, please, tell me something come up your mind when talking about Chinese or Chinese Culture.

Hi Besterer,
I'm not sure I understand your question but I do agree that growing up with a Chinese background and fairly traditional parents makes many of my ideas different from some of my other friends who are not Chinese. I have a friend who is chatting with me right now about how different generations of immigrants react differently over time, it is interesting how the cycle goes. Essentially, he is telling me that those who first come over have one of two reactions, the desire to break from their culture or the desire to retain it. Their children tend to reject their cultures and the third generation tends to embrace it once again. I'm not sure how true this is but I'm curious what other people's reactions are.

I heard the same about Polish culture. The kids of immigrants need to break out with their culture to fit in to their new culture, it is their children that start searching for the roots again
