I'm not sure I understand your question but I do agree that growing up with a Chinese background and fairly traditional parents makes many of my ideas different from some of my other friends who are not Chinese. I have a friend who is chatting with me right now about how different generations of immigrants react differently over time, it is interesting how the cycle goes. Essentially, he is telling me that those who first come over have one of two reactions, the desire to break from their culture or the desire to retain it. Their children tend to reject their cultures and the third generation tends to embrace it once again. I'm not sure how true this is but I'm curious what other people's reactions are.
