What is the worst baby name of someone you actually know?
Here is mine....I know someone who actually named her child....JAWEA!!! Can you believe it? She is such an adorable little girl, with such an ugly name. When I am out in public with her, I call her by her middle name (Renee) because I don't want anyone to mistakenly think she is my daughter and I was cruel enough to name her Jawea!! Ok...your turn!

does it mean something? As in is it in a differnt language?
Perrsonally, my fathers name is Denneth, quite apain in the [censored] seeing as he gets alot of mail addressed to Kenneth, and you have to spell it for everyone blah blah blah. My mother made it a point to give us 5 kids all classic names...linda eric jason wendy and willaim.

Well, the girl's dead-beat dad claimed to be part (a very small percentage) Native American so it was his idea to name her after Sacajawea. This little girl has red hair, pale skin and green eyes.
Her mother told us she was debating between naming her:
Rachel Renee or Jawea Renee
I usually don't like names that are too common but given these 2 choices, I begged her to go with Rachel. Of course, she was madly in love with Deadbeat Dad and wanted to do anything to please him. Now, he's no longer around and the little girl is stuck with that awful name!

I think Jawea is pretty, and I think it's an honour that she is named after Sacajawea. Seems like Jawea is a lot more meaningful name than Rachel. If I had to decide between Rachel and Jawea, I'd probably pick the latter... especially if I knew it was a variation of Sacajawea. When people ask her what her name means she can say how she was named after her and be able to proudly tell people about Sacajawea. Why do you care so much about this girl's name?

Actually, Rachel would have been after the mother's sister so that would have meant something as well (more in my opinion). Why do I care so much? I guess in one aspect it isn't really my concern. On the other hand, I feel sorry for the little girl because every time I tell someone the girl's name...the reply is "JA-WHAT?!?!? What the Hell was her mother thinking?!?!" and we all know how cruel kids can be so I know she will be teased in school. I feel bad for her, that's all.
Just a note...Deadbeat Dad did not know a thing about Sacajawea. He had heard the name and that was the extent of his knowledge on Native American culture. That is why it seems strange to name her after a cultural figure neither one of the parents know anything about. Nobody else in the family is Native American so none of them know anything about Native American history either. Hopefully, Jawea will research the culture on her own one day. I guess that is the upside of the name.

I would come up with a nickname. I dont mind the name, but it seems to bother you, with a nickname you wont have to say her name.

Haha! Yes, I call her by her middle name when we are in public. She answers to either name so it's not a problem.
Doesn't anybody think this is a strange name???
I am amazed because every person I have ever told it to has had a shocked or negative reaction.
