Ha, ha, I know what trouble it can be to thread yarn into a needle. First I found a packet of large darning/embroidery needles at Beverly's fabrics.
My trick for threading the needles is to lay the end of the yarn on a piece of scotch tape, fold the tape over the top of the thread, smash it flat, and cut it so it fits the width of the eye of the needle. Then just cut off the taped thread end.
