BellaOnline Forums Hobbies and Crafts Knitting how do you exchange crochet to knit patterns?

One of my best friends is having a baby but the blanket she wants me to knit is of a crochet pattern. Can anyone tell me how to exchange a crochet pattern to a knit pattern and will it look the same?? Thanks for helping.

Maybe there's a smarter knitter out there than I am, but I don't know any way to convert a crochet pattern to a knit one, and have it look the same. I think your best bet is to look for a knit pattern that looks similar to the one your friend likes.

But maybe someone else out there has a better answer. Sorry!

Becky you are right, you can convert it but it WILL NOT look the same. Thank you Felicia those are some really good links for more information about it.

Thanks for your replies!! I greatly appreciate it. I have just one more question, if I could find a way to exchange the pattern to knit do you think it will look somewhat SIMILAR at least?

Since I have tried to do it several times, I am going to say NO. I can always get the same "shape" but not the same look (hope that made sense)
