I recently had a skin cancer removed from my face. Because I let it go for 2 years (I was "too busy") without doing anything it was worse than it had to be. If I had gone in when I first noticed it, it would have been a minor problem. I'm not asking for sympathy here, I want to encourage you not to make the same mistake I did.

I was very lucky, the cancer was a basal cell cancer and those very rarely spread, but they do destroy tissue.

If you notice any kind of sore that does not heal, or heals and then comes back in the same place, don't wait. Go to the doctor and have it looked at. It could be important.

Hi Susan,

So glad you are feeling better. Hopefully others will read and see the importance of your post.

Cancer is very treatable when found early. Often in life we let things go, but when it comes to the health of our bodies we have to take the time out to care and get examined.

This is so very important.

Yep, I have a place that I am having looked at on Monday...right in front of my right ear; so I cannot see it. My hairdresser took a look( my hubbo is worthless when it comes to this sort of thing) and she said it appeared to be some sort of scaly patch like excema etc...which I have never had anywhere; sooo? Off I go to the doctor...I have had little thingies(not skin tags) frozen off both ears. I forget what they were called but they came form too much sun back in the day...

PLEASE do everything you can to prevent skin cancer and detect it early if you get it. I cannot tell you how heart breaking it is to have patients, as young as in their 30s, suffering from incurable skin cancer. PROTECT YOURSELF!

This would be a good spot to warn people about tanning booths...they are NOT safe and almost everyone I know who tans swears booths are safe.

Plus a recent study showed that if people were allowed to pick their own booth and one had the dangerous rays of tanning removed and just put out light...almost all the constant tannners would pick the booth with the dangerous rays...The people running the study declared that this meant tanning was addictive. Do not ask me why or how I did not do the study.
BTW: forgive me if someone talked about booths above as I di not backtrack.
