Thanks for posting that link to holistic pregnancy methods used in ancient Egypt.

I'm aware that Wise Women(precursors to community health nurses) went into the home at least by the 17th century, and probably much earlier, to help during labor and delivery and to dispense herbs, touch and other comfort and treatment methods to ill family members. These home visitors used holistic methods, too.
