This was a post yesterday on the Kent, Washington eaglecam forum. I just knew you'd want to see this! <img src="/images/graemlins/wink.gif" alt="" /> :
"If any one has been following the grey squirrel nest in New York, I think it has been taken over by an owl--maybe a little screech owl? And, the owl laid an egg! A great horned owl has also taken over one of the eagle nests at this site as well. For anyone who's interested, here's the squirrel, uh, owl link:
http://www.newyorkwild.org/squirrels/squirrels.htm Click on the "home" page, and there's info and links to other nests and a blurb about the horned owl takeover of the eagle's nest.
These things are addicting, aren't they?? Every morning I "travel the world" on the Internet checking out about a dozen favorite nest sites."
