You know, I really can't say. If I went just by the interaction I see on tv, I'd have to get pretty tough but I'm sure there's more discipline than that in their real lives.
One thing that I can identify with is that Victoria relates to her boys more like a friend than a mother in some ways. I think it just happens when you're a single mom, and despite popular belief, boys tend to be closer with their moms, at least in a single parent home. My boys are still my best friends. Someone I dated (who had never raised his own child) was constantly critical of the "easy" way I related to my sons, yet while mine were on the front page of the paper for their grades and athletic activities, his son was in the court notices for dui's and drugs.
While the guidos seem to be wild, I was touched when John? fell off the little mini-bike and was so worried about his mom finding out because "Mommy's brother got hurt on a bike."
