Ok, I read about Jeanne's daughter and her 100 penny business, LOL, and I had to share.
I guess it was last week when Cate (almost 8) realized she was the only one in the house with a working radio. She decided to charge people 30 cents to listen to one song. After a while she made a membership program, for $1.00 you got an ID card (which we spent all morning making) and you got 10 songs - which was a savings of $2 (I made her do the math, heee!) She made signs with open and close times. Then she decided to make it MLM and take on partners as long as they gave her 10 cents for every 30 cents they make, ha!!
Then Emily (5) decided she needed money to listen to songs, so she started a business drawing for 50 cents. She said she would draw anything you wanted, as long as she knew how to draw it (which pretty much means it had to be a flower, person or Spongebob)
I think this shows one of the greatest advantages of homeschooling - allowing the kid time to play and have fun and think about real things, and watch their ideas blossom and come to life.
