Personally, I think one of me around is enough <img src="/images/graemlins/wink.gif" alt="" />

Seriously, I think without proper legistlation and laws governing the agencies doing this kind of work, it can be abused. The research I think is grand and if a duplicate heart can be made, transplanted, and save someones life, then that is wonderful as well. However, without regulations and laws, someone is going to do the wrong thing for fun and profit.

I wrote an article a while back on the difference between identical twins and cloning if you are interested.

I am reading the book "Pandora's Baby" which deals with In Vitro fertilization...and the author makes the point that many of the same arguments used against cloning now, were used against IVF several years ago. It is interesting to see the debate parallels.

Personally, I think, like any scientific advance, the potential for abuse is there, but the benefits of the research far outweigh the risks. My mother has a degenerative disease that could only be halted with further breakthroughs-- so to me, I can only "see" the greater good...

It's hard to argue with the benefits that are possible. Who could say that anyone wouldn't deserve an organ that would save their life.

Its too bad that it seems to be human nature to take any good thing and find a profit in abusing it.
There are some really 'disgusting' possibilities. I can't imagine cloning a whole person to harvest parts. And I think the thought of cloning a lost loved one is really sad.

Ann, I'm going right now to read your article. <img src="/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" />
