I find Spanish Riojas go great with BBQ and burgers, and for hot dogs I'd go with a light red like pinot noir. I used to eat tons of hot dogs but I'm weaning myself off them, the more I read about nitrites the less happy I am with them <img src="/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" />
I just got this from a health website -
"Barbecue cured meats such as hotdogs and sausages and you'll produce yet another class of cancer-causing compounds called nitrosamines. Nitrosamines form when cured meats containing nitrites are cooked at high temperatures. "
