Hi, I just posted a review of The Da Vinci Code, by Dan Brown. After you read it I'd love to discuss your thoughts about the book.

Please check out this review of the DaVinci Code
at Disability Studies Online Magazine
http://www.disabilitystudies.com/davincicode.htm
particularly useful for those using comtemporary literature in their research to show gross stereotypes and misconceptions of disability.
thanks for the review

An excellent piece. The idea that one cannot be the leader because of physical limitations is a prejudice that we should challenge.

I thought they were both interesting reviews. The one thing many people seem to forget is that this is a book of FICTION.

Actually the issue is that certain people including Dan Brown are going around drumming up publicity by saying it is all based on truth and that as an art historian he did incredibly detailed research to make sure. I did a review of the book here -

Lisa's Da Vinci Code Pages

and I had to do an entire page on why people spend so much time picking at the details. It's because Dan spends so much time claiming they ARE true - which is why the book is selling so well. If he just said "it's all made up" I imagine it would have faded away a while ago, because like you all said, much of this is very well known information.

Well done Lisa. I always chuckle when folks present the Prior of Sion as real, when the inventors admitted it was a hoax.

Next month I begin teaching a Humanities course which starts at the 14th century. I'm awaiting the Da Vinci Code questions. I can refer them to your pages for research.
