Does anybody use PageMaker any more? I used to use this for paper newsletters, but it seems that most people are switching to web communications instead of pieces of paper ...

Hi Goldeen

Sorry it took so long to reply but I just relized these where here and got moderator access this morning.

PageMaker is still one of the major competitors in the DeskTop Publishing industry. I would say it's used more today for business applications then the casual user. There are less costly programs that casual users can buy to meet their needs.

I agree the world is moving more and more toward online layout but there will always be print media. While you can use PageMaker for web layout, again I think there are better programs to accomplish that task.

Thanks for posting.

I have an older version of PageMaker and use it on occasion. I have so many DTP programs it is unbelievable. But PageMaker has some advantages, depending on what you want to do.

hi there,
I use pagemaker everyday for magazine layout. Many have switched to inDesign, but adobe in all their wisdom made it difficult to import pm files into indesign (essentially pm8). Not very backwards compatable. Never used pm for online layout. however, you can create a postscript file in pagemaker and then distill is as an ebook. Makes a small file like a screen res version, but better graphic than the screen res version. SoftwareVideo (on ebay) makes some great tutorial cd's for learning pagemaker etc. will have you up and running in no time. ba
