What are your children planning to do for Halloween?

We'll be going to a local church for Trunk-or-Treat. It's great fun! I hope my kids decide on costumes soon. What kind of costume are your kids wanting this Halloween?

We're going to trunk-or-treat, too. My kids are teens so they are decorating our trunk and handing out candy. They are going to a Halloween dance the night before. Other than that, we'll just hand out goodies and admire the costumes!

Terrie one of the things I love best about Trunk-or-Treat is the fact that most of the people passing out candy are teens. They are setting a good example to the younger kids. It's amazing to me too that most of the teens really encourage the younger kids to come back and visit the church.

The Trunk-or-Treat also is so much safer. Everyone who passes out candy must be a member of the church, sign up and be assigned a spot. It would seem a whole lot less likely that someone would do something to the candy that could be harmful to the children.

i had a great time, whenever little 13 kids started chucking eggs at the house because we didnt give them any sweets i ran out after them shouing with a baseball bat. the look on there faces is much better than walking round in the cold knocking on doors. IMO trick or treating was ruined with mischief night (in the UK anyway)- this is the night before halloween where the local kids embark on mindless vandalism, mainly chucking eggs so that people are more likely to give them stuff the next night.

I dont think trick or treating is a good idea- it might be differant in the states but here it has changed from a bit of fun for the whole community into yobs going round and threatning old ladies with violence and vandalism.

I'm so sorry to hear that! We did go trunk or treating but it was so small we ended up trick or treating too.

We saw alot of older kids out and about. At first I was concerned that so many older kids/teens were trick or treating, but then I realized that they were also keeping close eyes on all the younger children in their neighborhood. I saw one teenage boy telling two little boys that they were too close to the street and to get on back. I think those little boys were pretty shocked, but they got away from the street pronto quick.

It's really a shame that so many people have taken what is supposed to be a great bit of family fun and turned it into an excuse to vandalise and be mean.
